Love & Ruffles Chocolate Engagement Cookies
Love is in the air and it smells like chocolate and vanilla!Love & Ruffles Chocolate Engagement Cookies
My sister is getting married in a few months, so I thought I would test some cookies that could potentially become shower favours.

Her colour scheme is metallic gray and aubergine, which I think go superbly with the rather regal manor she has chosen for her venue. Upon seeing photos of the venue, I instantly went to my stash of Designer Stencils and pulled out the Chandelier Set and Gem Pendant Set that had been sitting on a shelf for almost a year, just waiting to be used. I also had some inspiration from one of my favourite cake artists Zoe Clark - she uses the chandelier stencil set on cookies and a three-tier cake in one of her books. I am a huge fan and own all her books.

So you may remember last month when I wrote off wafer paper after a losing battle with dragons. I also mentioned that I had another set in my possession - well, here they are. The lady and gentleman silhouette that bear absolutely no resemblance to my sister and brother-in-law to be. Regardless, they serve the purpose - and guess what? I enjoyed did not mind working with them! However, if these cookies make it on to the favour list, I am likely to use fondant to carve silhouettes that more closely resemble the couple.

The ruffles around the cookies were created using Wilton tip #101 and royal icing coloured with Americolor Violet and Silver Sheen.

Gem Pendant Stencil - 3 shapes and Chandelier Stencil - comes in 3 sizes.

I rather enjoyed working with stencils and will be digging through my stash for future projects. Not one to pat my own back, but I think my flooding has improved somewhat?!?

The cookies were made using my favourite recipe. Once the flooded cookies were dry, I used more royal icing in a thicker consistency to stencil the designs. I later added luster dust in Antique White onto the white royal icing and Smoky Amethyst onto the stenciled areas using both the wet and dry techniques.

Thanks for stopping by!
