I enjoy baking, so I recently decided to try my hand at cake decorating! I used home-made buttercream icing to cover and frame the cake and to make the vines and leaves. The flowers, Violets and Daffodils, I made using home-made royal icing a day ahead and let air dry. Under all that sugar and vegetable shortening is a brown sugar cake - which I made more spicy than sweet - a nice complement.
